It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a month since GLOBALFOUNDRIES officially completed the acquisition of IBM’s microelectronics business. With the acquisition, GLOBALFOUNDRIES significantly enhanced its product offering and patent portfolio. Most importantly, we gained approximately 5,000 new employees.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, it seemed only fitting to celebrate with our employees around the globe, kicking things off in Europe, followed by events in the U.S. and then Asia Pacific. Major celebrations featuring GLOBALFOUNDRIES CEO Sanjay Jha and other executives, including Integration Lead Brian Harrison, Product Management Group Leader Mike Cadigan, Head of Fabs 9 and 10, Jim Doyle and Essex Junction Site Executive, Janette Bombardier, were held in Essex Junction, Vermont, and East Fishkill, New York. Employees at those locations got to experience live music, food from around the world and they got to hear directly from Sanjay who personally welcomed them to the GLOBALFOUNDRIES family.
“We have strengthened our team with some of the brightest and most innovative people in the industry,” said Sanjay, who spoke about how the deal fits in with GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ corporate strategy and why the acquisition and new employees are so important to the company’s future. “We look forward to working together to develop and deliver the technologies that will make both our customers and GLOBALFOUNDRIES successful over the long term.”
Cloudy skies and a little rain could hardly dampen their enthusiasm and excitement. Check out our Storify recap of the event and view photos from our Day 1 event at Essex Junction, Vermont and East Fishkill, New York on our Facebook page.
